Family Fun On The Water
Today’s family is generally cut down to almost “no time.” Parents are working longer hours, kids and teens attention is being consumed by social media, television and even texting entire conversations. The distractions are all around us. Heck, I remember when I was younger we actually had to get on our bikes and ride to visit friends and then we talked with them using our voice.
Times have changed, but not all of it has been for the better. Families need more alternatives to spending time together than just “friending” each other on the internet and “posting” about the days events. Without interaction together it is difficult to really know a person.
Luckily there is a great way to solve this issue. Spend time together without electronic distractions, get to know one another and get bodies in motion for exercise. It’s called paddle sports. Quite commonly known as kayaking, canoeing, and the growing popular stand up paddleboards, or SUP’s.
Throughout the world we are blessed with many rivers, lakes and other bodies of water that are there for the exploring. Not to mention the natural beauty Mother Nature is willing to share. The type of scenery is only found via watercraft.
Sure, boating is great too, but it has some major disadvantages. It cost money for gas, insurance, docking and so forth. It is also very difficult to get into those little nooks and crannies of nature. Using a kayak, or canoe doesn’t require any extra money. Only a paddle and some human power.
This outdoor water sport is taking off like a rocket to the moon. Parents, kids, teens of all ages are falling in love with paddle sports the world over.
By using a lightweight vessel and an oar people can paddle and explore things that cannot be seen unless on the water. It doesn’t require a big vehicle to tow, it can even be done with a small vehicle with the right trailer.
Kayak trailers specially built to be lightweight, yet carry several paddle sport boating vessels can be purchased to accommodate many kayaks and canoes and still be pulled behind a small car. Imagine this, the entire family, some friends all getting together and spending the whole day on the water, or at the park and just getting to know each other and spending time without texting, or emailing. This is all possible.
So come on people. Gather the troops, get your friends together, get the children out of the house and enjoy mother nature. You have a world to explore, it’s time to get going!
